An Oregonian through and through, Melissa Lynn Hoffman grew up on a farm in Scholls, Ore., a town that she jokes is not even on a map. Growing up, Melissa and her younger sister and brother spent their summers working in the family farm store, selling fresh, local produce to residents of the Portland Metro area. 

    Melissa moved to Eugene, Ore., to attend the University of Oregon, where she will receive Bachelors Degrees in English, French, and Magazine Journalism in the spring of 2010. 

    After studying abroad in Paris, France, in the spring of 2008, Melissa realized her true calling (and was finally able to interpret it). She has hopes of relocating to Paris one day, where she dreams of renting an apartment in the Quartier Latin.

     Melissa enjoys traveling to new places, uncovering one-of-a-kind treasures at flea markets, and the crisp smell of an ancient library book. She writes about a variety of subjects, but enjoys most the enlightenment that comes from writing personal essays.
